    Oral Hygiene Treatment

The foundation of healthy gums and a radiant smile is professional cleaning.

    Clean, healthy smile

Professional tartar removal and polishing that helps prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease.

    Thorough cleaning
    Personalized advice

"During professional oral hygiene treatment (tartar removal), our dental hygienist uses an ultrasonic device to remove hard and soft deposits (tartar) from the teeth. This is followed by polishing, which makes the tooth surfaces smooth and shiny."

What problem does this treatment solve?

Despite daily brushing, plaque remains on the teeth, which hardens into tartar due to minerals precipitating from saliva. Tartar is full of bacteria, causing gum bleeding, bad breath, gum inflammation, then bone loss and loosening of teeth.

    Our solution

Ultrasonic tartar removal (scaling) and AirFlow salt polishing gently but completely remove tartar and discoloration. The gums calm down, bleeding stops, breath becomes fresh, and periodontal disease is prevented.

How does the treatment work and who is it recommended for?

Tartar can no longer be removed with home methods or a toothbrush. However, with regular semi-annual dental hygiene treatments, most dental problems can be prevented.

    Treatment elements:

    • Ultrasonic scaling: The fine vibrations of the device 'crumble' the hard tartar from the enamel without damaging it. It sprays water, which cools the tooth and washes away debris.
    • AirFlow (salt polishing): A special machine blows water, air and fine cleaning powder onto the teeth at high pressure. It perfectly removes coffee, tea and smoking discoloration, even from hard-to-reach interdental spaces.
    • Polishing: With polishing paste and brush, we polish the enamel to a mirror-smooth finish, making it much harder for plaque to adhere again.
    • Education: Our specialist provides personalized advice on proper brushing technique and use of interdental cleaners (floss, interdental brush).

Frequently asked questions about the treatment

Everything worth knowing about the treatment

    Does tartar removal hurt?
The procedure is fundamentally gentle, but if the tooth necks are exposed or gum inflammation is severe, mild sensitivity may occur. On request, we can apply a surface anesthetic gel or local anesthesia.
How often should I get tartar removal?
In normal cases, every six months is recommended. However, if you're prone to tartar buildup, wear braces, have implants, or have periodontal disease, it's worth coming every 3-4 months.
Will my teeth be whiter after tartar removal?
Tartar removal and polishing remove surface discoloration (e.g., coffee stains), making teeth cleaner and brighter, restoring their original color. If you want a lighter shade, teeth whitening is needed.
My gums bleed when brushing, is this normal?
No, healthy gums never bleed! Gum bleeding is the first and most reliable sign of gum inflammation, caused by accumulated plaque and tartar. In such cases, you should immediately book an oral hygiene treatment.
